Aleksandra Ekster

Aleksandra Ekster (1882–1949) was a Ukrainian-born avant-garde artist, painter, and designer known for her significant contributions to the Cubo-Futurist, Suprematist, and Constructivist movements. Born in Bia?ystok, then part of the Russian Empire, she was educated in Kiev and Paris, where she was influenced by European modernist movements.

Ekster's work is noted for its dynamic composition, vibrant colors, and innovative use of materials. She was involved in various artistic endeavors, including theater design, where her innovative concepts and costume designs were highly regarded. Ekster also taught at the Kyiv Art Institute and was involved in the Decorative Institute in Moscow, influencing a generation of artists.
